A great win for Town at home today (Sat 201214). Town beat in form Middlesborough with a good performance to put Town second in the Championship. Well done Town! A great Xmas present for all ITFC supporters and team!
I hadn’t posted the last few games. A few weeks ago Town had a great away win at Charlton winning with almost the last kick of the game. They showed real spirit to win there and the Town scorer and hero was Noel Hunt, on loan from Leeds. He came on as a sub late in the game and was pole-axed by a hard challenge from Bikey and need a new shirt from his bloody nose. He got up though and on with the game and scored the winner…great play! Charlton had many chances in that game but failed to convert any and Town finished the game strongly looking for a winner and showed great team spirit to do so.
The next week, Town beat Leeds at Portman Road and that is always a tough game. Next up for Town was an away game at Bolton and Town got a creditable 0-0 draw against a rejuvenated Bolton side under their new manager Neil Lennon.
So Town were in 4th position I think only a few points behind Derby. Today Derby drew 2-2 against Norwich and Town had a chance to go above Derby with a win over Middlesborough. They got that with 2 first half goals from Murphy and Tabb and Town are now in second place with Bournemouth in first place after they beat Blackpool 1-6!
Well, it is great to see Town doing so well at the moment and the team have a good belief and energy and skill, so if they can keep playing well for the second half of the season Town could get promotion!
“so if they can keep playing well for the second half of the season Town could get promotion!”
Also Town are above Norwich 🙂 ’nuff said!
Here is a fascinating fact:
“Daryl Murphy is the Championship’s leading scorer with 14 in 21 starts this season”
Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor are getting a good squad of players together now with new boy Teddy Bishop showing quality along with new keeper, Bialkowski, and with back up from older more established players (eg Sammon and Ambrose) to call on if necessary. The future looks bright for Town.
Next up for Town is Friday’s boxing day game against Brentford (away). Brentford are third in the table and playing well so it will be a good game between 2 in form sides.
GOODLUCK TOWN.TOWN TO WIN..GO TOWN!!
