A great home win today for Town – ITFC 1 Bolton 0.
This win was VITAL! Barnsley won, Wolves won (vs Bristol City) and Peterborough won so this really was vital for Town to win and stay four points away from Peterborough in the third relegation place. Sheffield Wednesday lost and they are in 20th position with 43 points from 37 games. Town are in 18th place with 46 points from 38 games. It is very tight at the bottom and so it really was a vital win today for Town.
Jay Tabb played again today but N’Daw was absent (due to a domestic incident!). Carlos Edwards scored the vital winner with just 3 minutes of time left. Higham, Drury, McGoldrick, Murphy, Chambers, Steadman, Cresswell, Smith, Henderson and Jay Emmanuel Thomas all played. A good team performance.
There now follows a 2 week break due to international football before Town’s next game at home vs Leeds. The team are taking a well earned couple of days rest before preparing for their next important games.
Well done Mick MaCarthy and well done team for showing fighting spirit and getting a win today (in poor conditions of lashing wind & rain). Hopefully this and recent form will keep Town’s confidence up and help them continue to pick up points for the last games of the season. It is definitely a tough end to the season with the bottom clubs fighting hard to win points and any club that can get results has a chance of climbing out of the relegation places. Conversely any club that slips in form and can’t get results will find themselves falling right into the relegation places.
Well played Town! COYB ……
