Huddersfield Town vs ITFC preview

Today (Sat 210117) ITFC are away in the Championship to Huddersfield and back to “normal” league business.
Mick McCarthy remains in charge of the team despite being under great pressure of losing his job due to Town’s poor form and play. I support manager Mick who wants to stay and change the team and results for the better. All Town fans and hopefully the team want better for the club and the players have to work and play hard to change things for the better!

This link describes the aftermath of the embarrassing result losing to Lincoln on Radio Suffolk…http://bbc.in/2iRqmVK

Team news for today:
Leon Best is out, Paul Digby and Adam Spence(?) are in.
Town have been unlucky with injuries this season but that is no excuse for the poor play from all the other squad members and they have to look on these times as opportunities to do well for Town to get in the team or on the bench and play well!

It is tough times for all associated with ITFC (fans and players) and it is time for everyone who supports this club to support it as positively as possible! COYB!

COME ON TOWN…COYB!

Lincoln 1 ITFC 0

Lincoln 1 Ipswich Town 0

Town sink to a new low. Well played Lincoln.

I watched the game on BBC TV and Lincoln deserved to win.
ITFC again make national sports news for all the wrong reasons and inflict more misery, pain and humiliation on themselves and any remaining Town fans! Tough times at Town and when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Town aren’t tough enough though and I cannot see where they will go from here? We will see, but a monumental improvement is needed from the whole team if they are to go forward!
As a loyal Town fan, I cry “COYB” more now in hope than expectation….

ITFC 2 Lincoln City 2

Town drew at home againt Lincoln City today after being behind twice. ITFC 2 Lincoln City 2.

This was the FA cup third round and Town are lucky to have a replay.

It was the perfect opportunity for Town to kick start their season as the manager said in his pre match interview but it did not work out that way at all.

I listened to the match on the radio and Tommy Smith was guest commentator with Brenner Wooley and he stated he felt Town were lucky to get a draw.

The Town team was a near enough full first team and Lincoln played better! Nothing has changed from last year when Town played Portsmouth and were lucky to get a draw but then Town lost the replay!

There is now growing discontent with the fans at the manager Mick McCarthy. It isn’t his fault though, it is the players fault! Today Christophe Berra made an error to help Lincoln score but nearly all the Town players let themselves and the fans down again. The one exception was Tom Lawrence who scored both Town goals.

Town have not improved since last year and are actually getting worse! How long can these players be given to start playing better? Why are these potentially talented players not playing well and nowhere near to their potential? When are the players going to wake up and realise they have to do better? That is not just for a few games through the season, but in every game!

It was fully clear to all that Lincoln are a good side and were coming to Portman Road unafraid and prepared to play their own good football game and Town could not play better than them or beat them.

Recently, Grant Ward stated Town would improve and get results and be better!?
Grant Ward states Town are too good to be relegated

Why has nothing changed for the better at Town? Are these players really so complacent? Every single one of them, needs to wake up and start playing better, as it is almost too late for them and this side this season!

Come on Town, wake up, get a grip and work harder and better to be better and start winning games!
COYB….

QPR 2 ITFC 1

Unfortunate defeat away to QPR leaves Town facing a difficult New Year 2017.

Some weeks ago Ward spoke about not fearing relegation as he felt Town were too good to be relegated!
That is not a good attitude when Town are in the bottom half of the table and quite close to a relegation battle! If Town are that good, then why do the results and position say otherwise!?

I have been saying how potentially good the Town team and players are for the last 2 seasons and yet they constantly underperform and both individual players and the team combined have lost their way in all areas of the pitch. As they are not playing to their potential, then games become much harder to win so they need to toughen up physically and mentally and make the games harder to lose! When individuals and the team are out of form, there is no option but to work harder to both try to recapture your form and to just be harder to beat as a team. If the players individually and as a team, work hard enough for long enough, they should recapture their form and yet in the meanwhile the players and team have to work harder and smarter to play better and get more points! It isn’t easy…..

COYB..stop the bad talking and playing and start working harder and winning games and points!

Sheff Wed 1 Ipswich Town 2

Sheffield Wednesday 1 ITFC 2

WELL DONE TOWN!

Last week it was David McGoldrick that saved the Town and this week it was Town captain Luke Chambers, who scored the winner in the 87th minute!

I listened to the game on radio Suffolk and Town were better than last week against Rotherham and the Town first goal was well taken by Tom Lawrence.

It is good to have a good win to cheer all supporters and the team up with after a few hard weeks of indifferent results and form.

There is no reason why Town cannot get back to playing better and getting more winning results. It is important to keep being positive…COYB!

New season 2016-17

We are well into the new season 2016-17 and Town are languishing in 17th place with 17 points from 14 games. Not so good….The Blues have the blues!

Too many off days from too many players have contributed to this sorry state. Freddy Sears actually managed to score a goal in a much needed 2-0 home win against Burton 3 weeks ago and off the back of that Town’s last game was away to leaders Newcastle and Town lost 3-0!

The manager Mick McCarthy has come in for much critiscm, but really it is the players that are to blame. It is so frustrating because they have so much potential but they cannot seem to get any decent level of quality consistently which is what is needed to win games regularly in the Championship.

For some inspiration here is a video clip of Town scoring at Rotherham Nov 2015:

Today Town are at home against bottom club Rotherham. It is just a game that Town have to win. Simple as that with no excuses. It will not be an easy game, but the players need to play well and the fans need to keep supporting them and the manager. So COME ON YOU BLUES! GO TOWN….

EDIT:

ITFC 2 Rotherham 2

A disappointing result! As mentioned, every Town supporter knew it was a must win game and Town struggled to manage a draw.

Town got off to the perfect start with the first goal after 3 minutes. I was listening on the radio (Radio Suffolk) and was pleased but told my wife there was the full 90 minutes to play before judging the game and being happy with a Town win hopefully to be the outcome. However 3 minutes later Rotherham scored and the game was level!

The teams went in at halftime level, with all Town fans hopeful for better in the second half. However Rotherham scored early in the second half and Town were behind and losing. Town had very few chances to score throughout the second half, but thankfully Town scored and equalised with a fine shot and goal from David McGoldrick in the last minute of the match! Phew! Talk about cutting it fine and pulling a goal out of nowwhere. David McGoldrick is a good footballer and striker though and he surely has helped the Town out of a big hole.

After the game, plenty of disgruntled Town fans voiced their opinion that they want a new manager. It is hard for me to blame Mick McCarthy alone though for the continual poor results and Town legend Mick Mills shared this view and stated that everyone at Town (players and manager and support staff) must do better! I would like to add that this also includes us, the fans! It is hard to do at tough times but calling for a fighting spirit in the team and some character to be shown should also prompt all fans to show some more belief in the team and manager and not quit so easily. The Championship is not an easy league and the Town can do better as the players are good enough but at the moment we all need to raise our game! COYB……

Town finish season well!

Derby 0 ITFC 1

Last Saturday was the final Championship match and Town won away against Derby.

The previous Saturday Town had beaten MK Dons 3-2 in the last home game at Portman Road.

Town finish in seventh place (5 points behind Sheffield Wednesday).

Well played Town for winning the last two games and finishing the season well. So, Town fell short of the goal to get promotion or at least get into the playoffs. Unfortunately, the team haven’t played to their potential this season. A big plus has been the form of Bartoscz Bialakowski (the goal keeper), who has had a troubled personal year, but has been in great form. Sadly, Murphy and Sears have had a difficult season with not many goals, but it is good to finally see David McGoldrick back playing and scoring.

It really is a very tough league and high level performances are needed week in week out and only Burnley and Middlesborough who are promoted have done this. Relegated, are Bolton and Charlton, both once great clubs, left in turmoil and in need of rebuilding. MK Dons go back down, but they are good enough to challenge for promotion next year, but will need to strengthen.

Town part company with Jay Tabb and Luke Varney and I thank them for their contribution to the team and wish them well. Hopefully, Town will have a good break and come back refreshed and ready to do better again next season!? Probably be playing Norwich again who are on the verge of relegation!

So, Mick and Terry and players, have a good holiday!

COME ON YOU BLUES! 🙂

Middlesborough 0 ITFC 0

Middlesborough 0 ITFC 0

A good result and away point for Town yesterday at Middlesborough (who are level on points at the top of the Championship with Burnley and Brighton).

I’m not sure how Town managed a draw as Middlesborough were clearly the much better side. Congratulations again go to Town’s best player, keeper Bartoscz Bialkowski, who made several great saves to deny Jordan Rhodes and ‘Boro!

Paul Digby played at centre back which must be good experience for him. Luke Higham played as did David McGoldrick. Andre Dozzell was an unused substitute.

There are only 2 more games left this season, against MK Dons at home and Derby away. MK Dons are already relegated and the fixture seems a dead rubber, except that Carl Robinson, the MK Dons manager was so badly hurt by the experience of getting relegated, that he wants his side to finish well just for pride. If Town take this game lightly, they will get beaten.
Then Derby away and Derby want the points to be sure of a promotion play off place and Town will need to play well to get a result.

So, Town need to keep concentrating and play well in the next 2 games and end an average season in a good way, to give some hope for the next season!

Now I want all Town fans to stop moaning about the manager, Mick McCarthy and get behind him. It is the players this season that have let the manager and the supporters down. Town players have not in general been good enough, with one or two exceptions (notably Bartoscz Bialkowski). At least Jonas Knudsen has improved over the season and we have some hope with Andre Dozzell. The rest need to do better!

Still, things could always be worse.Look at Bolton, Charlton (both relegated, along with MK Dons) and even Fulham and Leeds. There are no easy games in the Championship and teams that win promotion and playoff places get there by merit! The best teams are at the top of the league and while Town have lots of potentially good players, most of them have under performed this season!

So Town, a good result against Middlesborough and now try and win the last 2 games and at least score some goals and play well?! I still believe you can do it and this will make things positive to end the season and to look ahead for the start of next season..so COME ON YOU BLUES!

COYB! 🙂

ITFC 0 Rotherham 1

ITFC 0 Rotherham 1

Town lost against struggling Rotherham today. Enough said? Yes, except to say:
WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!

I have no interest in the rest of the season. Why should anyone support the Town when they keep going from bad to worse? Sadly, supporting the Town is a waste of time.
I could say more, but what is the point?! I could really say a lot more, but really there is no point.

By the way, I am a true Town supporter and I have to face the plain fact, that it is true that Town are at the moment, a very mediocre football team and they get the support and reward they deserve! I have constantly stuck by them, and they constantly let me down.
Enough is enough and this is not good enough. Goodluck Town, from a very longstanding and loyal supporter, who can take no more of this awful football this year! As ever, I hope for better from Town but I cannot cope with being constantly let down…. 🙁
